Dear Colleagues,
With gratitude for the support of International Rhoton Society, I am excited and pleased to announce that the 4th IRS Congress will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, from November 5th to 7th, 2024.
Professor Rhoton, a true legend and treasure of our field, has achieved remarkable success in the study and teaching of neuroanatomy, rivaling the achievements of Leonardo da Vinci. His anatomical works have benefited countless neurosurgeons, leading to improved surgical outcomes for their patients. Over the years, his disciples and followers have continued his legacy, spreading across the globe. The establishment of IRS has allowed his students to carry forward his educational philosophy and the essential knowledge of contemporary microsurgical neuroanatomy.
Professor Rhoton's most esteemed student, Professor Evandro de Oliveira, has been a spiritual leader of the Rhoton School, demonstrating extraordinary artistry in difficult surgical procedures through the application of anatomical knowledge. We deeply mourn his passing in 2021, which halted his significant contributions to neurosurgical education worldwide, especially in Taiwan. However, his students remain undaunted, continuing to propagate his educational principles and spirit. The theme of this congress is one of the core spirits of IRS: "Inheritance."
In this congress, we aim to showcase Taiwan's world-class technological capabilities, and we look forward to the captivating lectures of Professor Evandro de Oliveira on the stage. As customary, practical hands-on courses in brain and skull base surgical anatomy will be arranged prior to the congress. Furthermore, in an effort to encourage more neurosurgeons to embrace the passion for neuroanatomy research, we will provide free accommodation and registration fees during the congress for dozens of young neurosurgeons.
In addition to the lectures by contemporary neurosurgical masters, we anticipate that various surgical video competitions will provide valuable comments and guidance to the next generation of neurosurgeons. We hope that the IRS Congress will not only serve as a significant platform for the exchange of ideas among global neurosurgeons but also as a crucial medium for the transmission of generational knowledge.
We look forward to seeing you next November, where you can indulge in a feast of knowledge and savor the warm hospitality and famous Asian cuisine of Taiwan.
Sincerely,
Sanford PC. Hsu |
